In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps tonight...
... but not really, cos there are no lions in the Amazon jungle.
After arriving in Lima, Peru we met up with what we like to call the ´Mums´or ´Olds´ - Jackys mum and aunty, and Ainsleys mum. Fantasia meets luxury! Our accommodation was 10 times better than what we were used to, and although we couldn´t keep up the extravagance, it was nice to have our own bathroom with a toilet seat.
We headed up to Iquitos where our jungle tour started. We didn´t know what to expect but we did know that we had handed over about 2 weeks worth of budget for 3 days in the jungle.
It was so worth it! The lodge we stayed in was flash - awesome feeds and a swimming pool with a slide that started in a spa pool at the top. Ainsley discovered it was way more fun to do bombs off the end of the slide - the splashes were huge and we made one little girl in the pool scream, and her younger sister (who was sitting in a chair on the edge of the pool) cry when the splash wet her.

The few days we spent in the jungle were incredible. So many animals and fun activities including fishing for piranha, spotting pink dolphins (and yes, they do exist... even though we didn´t believe it till we saw it), visiting Monkey Island, visiting local villages that made us do stupid dances, playing with sloths, snakes and millipedes, hunting tarantulas and a bit of bird spotting. No toucans though which was very disappointing... maybe next time?
